Gould–Jacobs反应是一系列反应的组合：一、苯胺1与烷氧基亚甲基丙二酸酯或酰基丙二酸酯2缩合得到苯胺基亚甲基丙二酸酯3；二、3发生环化反应得到4-羟基-烷酯基喹啉4；三、水解得到酸5；四、脱羧得到4-羟基喹啉6。
