硝基吡啶鎓盐类化合物作为硝化试剂，也能使活化的苯环硝化。其中2－甲基－

N－硝基吡啶鎓盐在乙腈中有较好的溶解度，所以使用得也比较多。

反应实例

To the solution of toluene (0.92 g, 10 mmol) in acetonitrile (20 mL) was dropped the solution of 2-methyl-N-nitro pyridinium salt (1.67 g, 12 mmol) in acetonitrile (10 mL) at the  room temperature, the mixture was monitored by TLC or GC. After the reaction was finished, the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. Then 30 mL water was added, the mixture was extracted with CH 2 Cl 2 , the organic phase was washed with diluted HCl solution, brine successively, the solvent was removed under reduced pressure, the residue was purified by column chromatograghy to give the product.
